National Health Threats and Challenges in Senegal

I wrote this paper for my Global Health class, focusing on the rising healthcare funding in Senegal and the need for continued investments in preventative and population health. I analyzed the country’s health challenges, including malaria, maternal mortality, and increasing rates of hypertension and cardiovascular disease, and emphasized the importance of preventative programs. This paper deepened my understanding of the relationship between healthcare funding and health outcomes in developing countries, particularly in the context of Senegal’s political and economic climate. As someone pursuing a career in healthcare, I will use this knowledge to advocate for targeted health interventions and support global health policies that prioritize preventative care and equitable access to healthcare. This analysis demonstrates my growth in applying global health concepts to real-world situations, and will inform my approach to addressing health disparities in diverse and resource-limited settings.

Literature Review

I wrote this paper for my Determinants of Health Behavior course, focusing on the importance of preventative care in women’s sexual and reproductive health. I examined key factors such as access to contraceptive methods, family planning, and maternal health, alongside the role of social support and education in improving health outcomes. This analysis strengthened my understanding of how societal, economic, and educational factors shape health behaviors and the overall well-being of women. As someone pursuing a career in healthcare, I will draw on these insights to advocate for accessible and culturally sensitive reproductive health services. This paper demonstrates my growth in applying public health theories and research to real-world health issues, particularly in understanding the importance of preventative care in sexual and reproductive health, which will be essential in providing holistic, patient-centered care.
