Culture and Literature Artifacts

Les Misérables Artifact

This essay, written for my French literature course, analyzes gender representation in Les Misérables by Victor Hugo. I explored how the novel both reinforces and challenges traditional gender roles through the characterization of Cosette and Jean Valjean. This analysis deepened my understanding of how literature reflects and shapes societal norms, as well as how historical perspectives on gender continue to influence modern discourse. As someone pursuing a career in healthcare, this critical lens will help me recognize the ways cultural expectations impact individuals’ experiences and well-being. This artifact demonstrates my growth in literary analysis and cultural interpretation, skills that are essential for fostering empathy, cultural humility, and patient-centered care in global health contexts.

Musée Virtuel Artifact

For my French Literature course, I created a virtual museum analyzing art pieces in connection with Les Misérables by Victor Hugo and Le Petit Chaperon Rouge. The assignment explored the intersection of visual art and literature to deepen our understanding of historical and cultural themes.

This project was meaningful as it highlighted how art and literature reflect societal struggles, injustice, and philosophical thought. Engaging with these narratives enhanced my analytical skills and cultural awareness, reinforcing the importance of perspective in interpretation.
